Mirrors Numbers Waves

Erin Gigl and Forrest Scherer

October 28th - Dec 17th, 2017

Mirrors Numbers Waves, an exhibition at Actual Size, Los Angeles consists of an installation of wall relief sculpture by Forrest Scherer and carpeting by Erin Gigl. The exhibition builds a colorful, nostalgic world that summons universal archetypes and uncanny iconography. Intimate childlike doodles and waiting room aesthetics appear as if they were put through a psychedelic ringer. Through the lens of personal mysticisms and abstraction, Gigl and Scherer, in their second two-person show together, explore social meaning and community space. The exhibition interprets symbolism from popular culture and the underground tropes of the 1970's, mirroring the progression/ degression of wholeheartedly believing in something.  Visitors are invited to take their shoes off to immerse themselves in the installation and join in performance workshops and meditations through the run of the exhibition.
